Matthew Baltay
is an associate in the Litigation Department at Foley Hoag LLP. He
has a general litigation practice, with a focus on business
litigation and product liability.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Baltay has represented clients in a
variety of settings including complex intellectual property cases,
product liability defense, securities litigation and contract
actions. Mr. Baltay serves clients of all sizes ranging from large
corporations including Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation to
smaller businesses and individuals.
Mr. Baltay is a member of Foley Hoag LLP's Product Liability
Group and regularly writes for the group's Product Liability
Update. He is also a member of the firm's Business Crimes
Group.
Mr. Baltay received his bachelor's degree in history from
Columbia University in 1989 and received a master's degree from
Yale University in Soviet and East European Studies in 1991. Mr.
Baltay earned his J.D. from the University of Washington in
Seattle in 1995 and clerked for the Honorable Justice Richard B.
Sanders on the Washington State Supreme Court from 1995 to 1998
where he helped pen over 40 published opinions on topics ranging
from contract law to the rights of the accused in a criminal
trial.
Mr. Baltay is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York
and the United States District Court for the District of
Massachusetts. He is also a member of the American Bar
Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar
Association.
